Turnout Upon A Mountain

A ballerina holds a perfect turnout on a pale, unbroken ground, photographed from directly overhead. Her shadow falls away in a long diagonal, and the surface extends past every edge of the frame without a single feature to interrupt it.

The pose is classical and the setting is nothing at all — which is the tension the image runs on. Precision, placed in the middle of an emptiness that has no measure.
