Conceptual PhotoSHOOT in Cabo, Mexico
Hey everyone,
Last week was a big deal for me. I've been flying around with a remote control, four propellers, and a camera for four and a half years, doing all my creative stuff. But I've finally decided to try something new. It's been a scary thought to pick up a handheld camera, probably because of my insecurities and fear of not being good enough. But after producing series like ‘Detached, In Harmony’, ‘Water Geomaids’ & my work with the ‘English National Ballet’ it was time to take a leap.
I've always wanted to make a cool, colorful series with a dystopian vibe, where the main focus is a subject standing out against a bold background. That's why I ended up in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, at this awesome soccer stadium that just got renovated. When I saw it for real, it blew my mind. It was like a visual wonderland!
I teamed up with Valerie Marienko, a Ukrainian model who's in Los Angeles, chasing her dreams in modeling and acting while finding refuge. We started early in the morning, around 5:45 am, getting Valerie's hair and makeup (via the wonderful Alitzel) done, and then we started shooting from 7 to 9:30 am. Since the stadium is open to the public, we ended up with an audience of about 10 to 15 people by the end of the shoot! I used both the handheld camera and the drone to capture the shots, switching between them to bring to life the sketches I had made beforehand (like I always do before my shoots).
I'm hoping this series will be a bold and vibrant story, drawing on my experience from the aerial shots to create visuals that inspire and bring joy.
Lots of love ❤️
