Costa careyes
A recent conversation with a hotelier sparked my curiosity about Costa Careyes, a historical community tucked away on Mexico's Pacific coast, just south of Puerto Vallarta. While my focus doesn't typically lie on showcasing the luxurious lifestyles of the elite, something about Costa Careyes intrigued me, beckoning me to delve deeper.
I spent 3 days at Costa Careyes, specifically at Casa Mi Ojo, (the blue house below). In the mornings I’d head upstairs and walk on the top balcony and take in the sights and of course fly. As a design head, It’s brilliant to see a community disctinctly driven to preserve a consistent ethos.
Founded by Gian Brignone, a visionary architect with a heart brimming with love for Mexico, dreamt of a sanctuary where creativity could blossom. In 1968, his vision materialized as Costa Careyes. This wasn't just a resort; it was a canvas, an invitation to artists and free spirits to paint their dreams onto the landscape.
The kardashianss and dua Lipa's of the world may have popularized Careyes, but it's the mesmerizing creations of Diego Villaseñor, Alex Pössenbacher, and fellow artists that blend light, scale, vibrant colors, cosmic elements, and mythology.
Costa Careyes is a living, breathing community where artists of all disciplines find solace and inspiration. Painters, musicians, writers, and photographers, each adding their own brushstrokes to the vibrant canvas of creativity. The annual Careyes Writers Workshop, a beacon for literary talents, stands as a testament to the resort's dedication to fostering artistic expression.
My time in Costa Careyes provided a refreshing perspective; it's not just about extravagant amenities and lavish accommodations; it's about immersing oneself in a meticulously curated environment that celebrates both aesthetic beauty and environmental responsibility.
